Futbolmetrix wanted banter, so here we go
Things are tight at the top of the classic league with three teams
within 1 point --
2. The black and white propagandists, with a great haul of 99 points
this week, on 151 points thanks to Son and Kane, whome he was maligning
last week.
Banter perhaps more appropriate in the head to head league, with a four
way tie on 6 points at the top, with the Dilettante, Serie A rejects,
Uncommon Market, and FUBAR all having won both games. The high hopes
have been extremely unlucky to lose twice given their points total of
151. I love the unpredictability and sheer randomness of the head to
head league.

And the Serie A Rejects just 9 points behind! I'm rooting hard for Milik to join Newcastle (being a benchwarmer at Spurs not as useful...)

They did OK, but things could have been a lot better if I had captained one of them...

Yeah, especially when you have two teams in first place.
3. The perennial contender Keith Powell's (no relation to Boog) high
hopes also on 151.

"Perennial contender" - I feel so Arsenal-ish...

Wait, when was the last time Arsenal actually contended for something (other than the FA Cup?) .... ducks
Wait, when was the last time Arsenal actually contended for something (other than the FA Cup?) .... ducks
were they not in a Europa league final not too long ago ?

Some observations after 3 rounds (almost):
1. Werner has been a bust. I'm about to fire him from my team. 0-for-3 so far (won a couple of penalties though).
2. Bamford might be the new breakout Fantasy star. Scored in every game and his team loves to go forward.
3. Sheffield United's legendary "defenders" have been a shitshow. Zero clean sheets, zero goals, zero points.
4. Vardy was dropped by me due to age but shows no signs of slowing down this season (though 4 of his 5 goals have been PKs).

There have been so many penalties so far that there may be a distorting effect in Fantasy. But if the trend continues, mediocre midfielders and defenders who do take penalties might be worth picking. Phil Neal (not
that he was mediocre) would be great pick.

Very much so !
Lots of goals this round, but from less than predictable sources (apart
from Vardy).

Yes, and the savvy Dilettanti have taken full advantage of this. Maybe this banter thread was not such a good idea? Now we'll have to endure MH's bragging until his inevitable coronation?

Only four rounds in and some teams have not played 4 games. But all I
can say is I keep making silly choices, though the erratic nature of
some results is destabilizing things
As for the Uncommon Market, they are sinking like Binder's proverbial
Lead Dirigible. Time to fire VvD Timo Werner and a few other slackers.
I would not even be the first one to use my wild card, apparently.
On the other hand, McGinn has proved to be not a bad pick so far. He is actually the player in the current Scotland squad with the most goals.
But that is a woefully inexperienced squad, and if I were Israel, I
would fancy my chances.
