Is anyone else out there using digipi?

I've got one running and I've got it in digipeater mode.

I would love to send someone a couple test messages.

I am an amateur, KD4IHW, but unfortunately do not have a digipi. I had to look it up and looks like a fun device. '

Where are you located? I'm in Fayetteville, NC.

I hope you do find another digipi user, so you can experiment with your ham radio device.

I'm on Whidbey Island, in WA.

I'm looking for HAMs with their APRS ears on all the time. I would love to see how far I can get a message out.

You know I've never tried that.

On digipi aprs webchat really wants a call sign to send to.

APRS on my HT I've never tried to just send CQ de <my call> and so I don't know if its even possible.

The only digi that I've done is VHF packet with Digicomm on the C=64 PC on 2 Meters.
RTTY on 2 Meters & 20 Meters with a Netronics ASCII/Video board and a homebrew 555 afsk , and RTTY demodulator circuit I borrowed from the schematic of a RRTY Reader artical in Popular Electronics magazine back in the 1970's.

Haven't done any of that since the 2M rig went crazy and would change whatever frequency I was using and go to 144.000 Mc/s.
The factory repair shop couldn't fix the rig so I told them to keep it for spare parts.
The fella said he would put it in his Junque Pile .

The XYL said to remove those ugly wires coming out of a doorway and going in the drop down attic stairway, so i ain't used my HF Gear fer many years .
I have a Heatkit Sixer and Halo antenna I could use but way back when I used 6 Meters a neighbor told me they heard me talking while watching T.V.
I don't want to get any TVI complaints from the newer neighbors so I am QRT here.
Reading BBS posts about AmateurRadio here lets me know what is going on the airways.

Mike our SYSOP may know if anyone below the 0 degree mark has written messages in FIDO.

Wow, why not just let them cut off your baluns and be done with it. There are workarounds/remedies for both situations.

I never used a Balum between a rig and antenna.
The coaxs running up in the attic were to a 80M Slinky Antenna, the other one went out the peak of the gable roof vent to a 20M Inverted Vee.

The 80M antenna was made with four Slinkys.
Two soldered togethered one end to another ones end.
Another pair done the same way with a square piece of Plexiglass inbetween them for the coax connection.
