1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D turbo diesel. Silver with blue mbtex
upholstery. My favorite car, ever. Except maybe the same thing in a white/palomino 300TD wagon.

Back then, they made cars to last a million miles.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few of those on the road, and similar Mercedes from around that time. Also, the 1980s Volvo 200 series is another that seem to last forever (particularly, the 240).

Is nice, but what about the 300SL or SLS? :) Or even the C111.
    Mmmm those gullwing doors.

Yeah, that list was pretty limited. For a daily driver, I'm partial to a Lexus ES lineup myself. But if I were to buy a car "just for fun", probably a Corvette.

Oh, yeah... I read a lot of Road and Track when I was a kid - back when they made the Mercedes C111 and BMW M1. Amazing cars for the time.

I like the Corvettes from the 70s through the 90s, but IMO I don't think the newest Corvettes don't look as good as the older ones.

My best friend in high school had a '77 corvette, red, with the L82 Engine. Fun to look at, a pain in the ass to work on, and slow as molasses.

Looking back at what they call the "Malaise Era", the '77 with the upscale engine made 210 horsepower. My Camry made about that much and did a comparable 0-60 time.

I had a 1978 Silver Anniversary Vette for a little bit, it was awesome.

When I was a kid, I thought they were saying "Mayonaise Era" and didn't
really know why it was called that. :D

Hmmm just for fun... Yeah, a Corvette would be on the list but I'd want more than that.

I'm kind of ashamed that I only today learned about the Mercedes Maybach. Oh that 2024 looks so nice. mbusa.com/en/maybach *swoon*.

Very nice for sure. The 496 HP model goes for $198K MSRP, and the 621 HP model starts at $234K.

For that kind of money I think I'd get something else. Depends on whether
you want to ride smooth, or fast. Although.... real fast costs at least
    twice that. :-)

2002 Camry SE - had a nice taut suspension, bigger wheels and a 6-cylinder. Fun car.

Isn't a fully pimped Ford GT still around 70k? :)

I had a 1986 and really liked it. It had over 100k miles on it but that
4-cyl still ran like a top, and it had plenty of pickup. I got rear-ended
one day sitting at a light, and the whole rear end got accordianed. ;(
